The government has issued administrative orders to reorganize the Department of Drainage and rename it as the Department of Water Resources,implementing it within hours of CM KCR’s decision. To this end, the Government has approved the replacement of posts of Work Inspectors, Lashkars, Electricians, Fitter, Gates, Pump Operators etc. at the CE level to strengthen the irrigation system. A total of 4,236 posts will be filled in the state, including 532 new work inspectors, 2,874 Lashkar and others. This includes the permanent recruitment of personnel from pump houses, dams and barrages belonging to the skilled department. Posts related to water diversion and canal management will be replaced on contract basis.
